A Good 'Experiment'

I have been wondering about my blogs lately. What was working and what wasn't. I play with lots of ideas and experiment with lots of blogs. This blog began because both Sam and I had things we liked to post that didn't fit our blogs. Shahid joined us and then other members did also.

We tried many different things here and some worked and some didn't. Mostly we just popped in occasionally to say hi and post something interesting. We don't hear from some members for a while but that's okay. We aren't too strict about rules here.

Today was fun because Josh posted an interesting link and 'The Masta' (aka Billy) became our newest member.

Today we have fifteen members. Over 300 posts have been written since we began 8 months ago.

I don't think we are an experiment any more. :) Thanks everyone.

P.S. If you haven't browsed our members' blogs recently please do so. You may find something interesting to read.

Blog Questions (Meme)

Here is another meme for you to play with in your blog. (Members can post here).

1) Why and how did you start your blog?

2) If you have a special 'nom de blog', how did you choose it?

3) How did you come up with the name for your blog?

4) What things do you tend to blog about the most, and why?

5) Are there subjects you'd like to blog about, but don't, and if so, what is stopping you?

6) How do you organize your blogroll/links?

7) How do you feel about the design of your blog? Are there any changes you'd like to make to it?

8) How often do you post new entries on your blog? Would you like to post more (or less) often?

9) How often do you read and/or comment on other blogs? How do you find new blogs to read?

10) Have you done anything special to get others to read and/or comment on your blog?

Memes And Mondays

Wikipedia Meme

I have seen this meme on several blogs:

Go to Wikipedia and look up your birthday (excluding the year). List three neat facts, two births and one death in your journal, including the year.

My Thankful Monday

My Thankful Monday is a new meme site that looks interesting. I thought a plug here would keep them motivated and get our members writing.

Stability results were moderately low which suggests you are worrying, insecure, emotional, and anxious.

Orderliness results were moderately low which suggests you are, at times, overly flexible, improvised, and fun seeking at the expense of reliability, work ethic, and long term accomplishment.

Extraversion results were moderately high which suggests you are, at times, overly talkative, outgoing, sociable and interacting at the expense of developing your own individual interests and internally based identity.

Bon Voyage Shogun

Shogun is going to Japan tomorrow for almost two weeks. Lucky sod.

Have a good trip. :)

Happy Birthday Fintan

Today is Fin's birthday. Will he feel like this tomorrow? :)

----

Fintan's Birthday

The Darragh was delirious,
the liquor cold,
the partying was serious,
the drinking bold.

The Darragh was shaking,
he took another pill.
his head was aching,
he felt "over the hill."

Personal DNA

I took the Personal DNA survey like Shahid did and found it interesting. I came out as a Benevolent Idealist. The test is easy to take and makes you think but I found some things I didn't like.

  • It uses Shockwave Flash and I found the usual problem of unreadable fonts in Firefox/Linux. In Windows using IE I had no problems.
  • The test doesn't tell you you need to allow cookies. It just refuses to continue.
  • The default script causes problems with Blogger and loads really slow.

There was a lot of information but basically I try to be nice and I am not always practical.

Benevolent - If you want to be different:

You spend a lot of time taking care of others, but don't forget to take care of yourself!

Sometimes you can get overcommitted, and when you sacrifice spending time with those close to you, it can make them feel unimportant.

Idealist - If you want to be different:

You take time to explore your own thoughts and ideas, but this experience would only be heightened if you opened yourself up even more to others' ideas.

Your faith in yourself and your lifestyle is well-founded, but the occasional foray into the unknown might broaden your perspective and help you see things differently.

Interesting ideas.

Shifting Gears

For those of you who have any interest in art...you should check this out. I noticed this exihibition on Volkswagen's website a few weeks ago. Little did I know it would be coming to my college soon after. All of the contestants were young people (age 16-25) with disabilities. I stopped by the gallery see the work of the winners earlier today. There are some great and inspiring pieces to be seen here.

You can take a look at the winners and their work at this link.

Difficult homework questions?

Hope you lot don't mind me continutally pimping off my websites on here, but I do have another little announcement to make.

I've just launched Buster Answers.

It's bascially a very nice forum, but it's specially geared towards answering things like homework and revision (or review) questions which might pop up as you're studying.

So, if you've ever got anything to ask, ask it here! :D
